Ozgun is a dual-qualified solicitor and Turkish attorney-at-law with over 15 years’ experience advising boards, founders and senior management on complex international growth, cross-border M&A, financings and strategic commercial matters. She has extensive experience across the retail, e-commerce, infrastructure, energy, transportation and technology sectors, gained through a combination of senior in-house leadership and private practice roles.
Ozgun advises international clients on their UK operations and cross-border expansion strategies. Her work includes leading complex corporate, financing and commercial transactions, and coordinating multi-jurisdictional legal teams across Europe, the United States and emerging markets. She works closely with boards, founders and executive teams, often acting as the principal UK legal adviser for international businesses. Ozgun is frequently engaged as external General Counsel, or as an extension of an in-house legal function, advising on both complex and day-to-day legal matters and supporting boards and senior management with a deep understanding of the operational realities of fast-growing, internationally active organisations.
Prior to joining McCarthy Denning, Ozgun served as General Counsel of an international infrastructure group during a period of significant global expansion. In that role, she led the legal aspects of acquisitions, concessions, joint ventures and project financings across multiple jurisdictions, while also acting as company secretary and managing external counsel worldwide. The transactions executed during this period supported the group’s development into a global market leader.
Earlier in her career, Ozgun trained and practised at leading international law firms, including time on secondment in London at Norton Rose Fulbright. She advised sponsors, lenders and strategic investors on complex cross-border M&A and project finance transactions, with a particular focus on the energy, infrastructure and TMT (technology, media and telecoms) sectors. She has advised global companies on their entry and exit strategies in emerging markets.
Ozgun has also acted as independent counsel to international investors on renewable energy and infrastructure projects, advising on regulatory matters, acquisitions and project development, while maintaining a selective advisory practice.
Ozgun is the author and co-author of a number of internationally recognised legal publications and industry guides on cross-border financing, energy and telecommunications law.
