Gabriella is an experienced lawyer, and holds a LLM in Shipping Law from the University of Southampton and a LLB in Law from the Law School of the University of Athens, Greece.
Before joining MD, Gabriella worked for many years as in house legal counsel in a number of major, international ship owning/ship management companies in Greece and in the UK. Her practice included advising the shipowners and the board of Directors on corporate matters like structuring and execution of deals and agreements, commercial agreements, banking transactions, the negotiation of sale & purchase of ships of the SPV which owned them and represented shipowners on closings in numerous countries. She was also in charge of a wide range of corporate and commercial contracts daily both for the business and for the personal activities of the shipowners.
Gabriella handled claims and disputes, liaising with local and international counsels as required, whether for court or arbitration proceedings and attended hearings.
Gabriella joined McCarthy Denning in 2016, spent a couple of years as a Compliance Manager and in view of her international background and since then has concentrated on corporate and commercial work , mostly of a cross border nature, including litigation up to the level of hearing.
Gabriella’s experience includes attendance at legal committee meetings (LEG) and IOPC Funds meetings of the International Maritime Organisation of the United Nations in London (IMO) as part of the Cyprus representation team.
In her spare time , Gabriella is also a member of the Propeller Club and the Hellenic Engineers Society of Great Britain.
