After acting as Head of Legal for the Channel Tunnel Consortium, Richard went into private practice with Masons. Since then he has been a partner with several leading law firms. Richard has worked and lived in Brussels, Amsterdam, Oman and the UAE.
Richard has acted for large multinationals, banks, liquidators, shareholders and high net worth individuals often involving highly complex disputes which give rise to concurrent proceedings in one or more jurisdictions. Richard has a track record of devising strategies to achieve the client’s objectives in a cost effective and efficient manner and implementing those strategies through managing teams and co-ordination with local lawyers in relevant jurisdictions.
For the past 20 years Richard has acted in numerous disputes involving Russia and other former Soviet States. These have included arbitrations and court proceedings in such jurisdictions as London, Cyprus, Ireland, the BVI and other Caribbean courts, Geneva, Zurich, Stockholm, Delaware and New York. Richard also has considerable experience of asset-tracing and freezing orders which can enhance the likelihood of the client’s successful enforcement of any award or judgment.
