Simon is a chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in corporate finance in major international accounting firms as well as City boutique. His experience covers both public and private companies, and all manner of corporate finance transactions from fund raisings through to exits.
He is adept at rapidly identifying issues, formulating solutions, gaining buy-in from key stakeholders, and then implementing and running the solutions.
Simon brings his commercial, operational and corporate finance expertise to McCarthy Denning, to help clients achieve the outcomes they want from transactions.
As well as his work with McCarthy Denning, Simon is CFO to three companies in the pharmaceutical and ethical investment spaces.
Simon’s degree is in Mathematics from Balliol College, Oxford. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Levy Gee (now RSM), and subsequently spent time at BDO and Ernst & Young. He was one of the founding partners of Cairn Financial Advisers, which is now one of the largest advisory firms in AIM, by number of clients.
He was also one of two founders of an innovative payments startup, where, as well as strategic and general leadership, he held specific responsibility for finance, operations, customer service, compliance and fraud/risk management.
He has also produced music recordings and a show in the 2000 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and is a keen underwater photographer and olive farmer.
